Just Keep Swimming...

 Monday April 29, 2013

Today Jack, JR, and I traveled back into Orlando to visit our favorite neighborhood pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Knapp for our monthly follow-up. We had a lot of questions as Jack is ready to move move move! His nurses, especially Annette, couldn't believe how big Jack has gotten.  He was only 6.9 lbs when we checked in with them the first time...and now he is at least 14 lbs. We forgot to get a weight this day, so we will have one for everyone after our pediatrician appointment on May 14th.  Jack had x-rays done of his pelvis and right leg. After some range-of-motion, and observation, Dr. Knapp gave us the all-clear to "...move him like he's normal." YAY!!!!  He wants to see us in the office in 2 months, and he said to keep the brace on at night just for another month, "...in case." What a great appointment! God is GOOD!!!! So, now we can have bouncy chairs, put weight on his feet, and sit him upright! How exciting!

Since the last post...Jack has found his toes....he thinks they are fabulous. He can't quite get them to his mouth like his buddy Megs, but he's trying. He likes to do this pose all the time, especially during diaper changes. Needless to say, we have to shield alot more now in case he decides we need a shower.

Our friend Lins visited from Idaho. We took her, and Jack to the Gaylord to check out where daddy works. What great timing, because not only did we get to meet all the cool people he works with, but Shrek, Po, and Puss were all out and about...and we got to see them feed the gators...yes..they have gators.

Well, that is it for today...I hope all is well in your worlds! Jack Jack will post pictures of his first swimming adventure next weekend! Here are a few from today...half rolling over, and tummy time!

Bye Bye Baby

3 months...no longer a newborn

On April 8, 2013, Jack Jack celebrated his 3 month birthday.  Officially, that means he is no longer a newborn he's a  infant.  Boy have we come a long way.

He's starting to smile....

 He's starting to laugh....

And he wants to move...except we can't let him. Boo. Jack began trying to sit up on his own 3 weeks ago, is half rolling over except we are not allowed to let him bring his legs together. Dr. Knapp said not to do that, come to far forward in sitting, or put weight on his feet. At the time, "ok doc sure, that's fine." Oh but when your child starts wanting to do those milestones, and you can't let them...sucks. I have to remind myself that his hip isn't fully in line, or that we don't want to risk pulling it out. It's tough. Jack has an ortho follow up on the 29th. We will know more then.

We've had a busy month since I last updated. I guess we can start with Easter. That Saturday Jack and I had breakfast and an Easter egg hunt with the PRC (our running club). Since I can't run with jack yet in the stroller (6 months) Jack and I hung out with the PRC kids and husbands. Surrounded by mountains of muffins! We then took the kids over to the park where the city was holding their Easter Egg hunt. Jack watched his Godbrother and CJ hunt for eggs. We had a good time! The next day we headed to Grandma Stevie's, well Aunt Pat's because she was doing Easter dinner this year. Her daughter, Bonnie, son-in-law, Josh, and granddaughter, (Meghan 6 months) came in to visit. It was so much fun to finally meet Megs and spend time with Bonnie and Josh. They live out of state but we really enjoy their company. Prior to Pats Jack and I walked over to meet Mia. Mia is the granddaughter of my Miami boss. Her son and daughter in law were visiting her parents who live a few houses down from Stevie!  Mia is 8 months old. I really like the Wojicks too so it was a fun time for mom too! JR did get to join us for dinner which was a wonderful surprise.
Things got quiet for a few weeks there...jack and I are doing well on our commute and he loves his daycare! It helps that the owner is a good friend.

Last weekend, I returned to runningy half marathons. I did the Iron Girl half and my guys were at the finish line cheering me on!!! I didn't do my normal speed. But I finished. I did get injured this time but out of shear stupidity. I rolled my ankle twice and now can't run for a few weeks. But good thing race season is over until the fall. I have 4 races before the end of the year. Wish me luck. Jack gets to start running in July, but really early in the morning or at night when the sun is not out. Too damn hot.

We have a busy year a head...2 weddings before Christmas. And keeping up with little Jack Jack who is still my hero. Thank you for your continued support and love! We are doing well. We will update after our appointment on the 29th.

Xoxo
