Jack and I had a great night, he was wide awake for a few
hours to play from like 2-5 am. Then we had a second awesome playtime after
breakfast. Then Jack, slept. He is reacting to sounds and lights so much right now.
It is awesome to watch him, and to watch the faces he makes.
Dr. So and So (one of the ortho people, new guy, didn’t
catch his name) came to round on Jack early. Let us know that Dr. Knapp would
be in later. The ultra sound showed that the hip was going towards the right
direction, but there is still possibly something keeping it from going in the
right now. When Dr. Knapp came in, he basically said we need that second surgery for multiple
reasons. He basically said that he wants to clean out what may be residual
fluid and “gunk” from before. He also would like to set his hip, instead of
relying on the brace to guide it into place with the possibility of it healing
wrong and needing a more evasive and painful surgery later. Then they also want
to put the Broviac central line in for the last 17 days of antibiotics.
I reached out to Terry and Jen from PTA in regards to the
second surgery. Both of them are a vast knowledge regarding ped ortho kiddos
and I am so grateful to have their expertise, and support as I navigate these
decisions.
So that is the update, surgery tomorrow, tentatively at noon
for our Jack. We are praying for the able hands and minds of our medical team,
and the strength in our Jack.
Will be praying for a successful surgery and as little pain possible for Jack and peace for you and JR. Thanks for the updates!:)
