Super Bowl Sunday

February 3, 2013

The Frog Prince, my Jack, was wide-awake at midnight last night, he finally went to sleep around 2 am when he got more medication. He slept all the way until 530, where he ate, then went back to sleep…then slept until 830. He did so good. We did 3 diaper changes without him screaming bloody murder, which leads me to believe that his new brace is much more comfortable to him then the taco one.

Dr. Herrera, and Dr. Crawford came in this morning to check the brace, and give us a plan. Dr. Herrera changed the setting on the right leg a little, and let us know that, “We are going to let him wear this all day today, wear it for a repeat ultra sound tomorrow. If the leg is not in place, then we will go back in, clean it out more, then put the hip back in place.” So, that is a definitive plan, and though it means more surgery (which I am hoping we don’t have to do) He was sure and confident about the plan he and Dr. Knapp had come up with.

I did get the opportunity to apologize to the staff from Friday night, which made me feel better.

April, Kirsten, Carter, and the beautiful little Addy came to visit Baby Jack today. After the Sunday run with PRC, and Panera they stopped by. Brought me a large sweet tea and a cherry Danish. LOVE THESE GUYS! Baby jack opened his eyes just long enough for mom to pass him off to Kirsten, but he had mom fooled cause he went right back to sleep. They stayed a while and caught me up on all that has been going on. It was so good to see them. We have been surrounded by wonderful friends this weekend! Courtney, Randi, Grandma Stevie, Tom, Sammy, Ty, and the girls. I feel very blessed! Jack definitely knows he has a support group. The out pouring of support from texts, calls, and FB have been amazing too.

Dad came back and we had dinner and watched the Super Bowl. During that time Jack needed his ampicillin, and JR noticed that there was a little more blood in the line than usual. The nurses couldn’t get it flushed out so they called the NICU nurses to check it out. NICU nurses had to pull the tape (off his hair) off his PICC to check it out. After a half hour of screaming baby, they realized the PICC was no good, with possible clotting. Dr. was called and he/she wanted an IV started until PICC team could see Jack in the AM. They tried Jack’s hand twice (NICU nurses) before finding another vein in his head that returned blood and would flush appropriately for his saline and antibiotics. So at this time, he has his PICC and an IV in his head, not good for these parents! He is now resting again, but that poor baby went through a long 2 hours. But the blood work blood that was scheduled tomorrow is already drawn so that’s good. We will add PICC line team to the list of things we are doing tomorrow. Big day tomorrow.

With that, Yolanda I hope your Ravens win. Everyone have a great night, this mom is going to go cuddle with her strong brave little man.
